On January 27, 2026, at approximately 11:17 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a shopping center parking lot located in the area of Lido Way and Thackeray Lane for a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2024 Ford Transit 150 van, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound in the parking lot when it made a left turn to travel eastbound when it struck an adult female pedestrian.
The adult female was pronounced deceased on scene. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident is the city's 2nd fatal collision and 2nd traffic death of 2026. This was the also the 2nd pedestrian death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
