The San José Police Department Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF) conducted a proactive demand-reduction operation on January 31, 2026 targeting individuals seeking to purchase sex within the city of San José. The enforcement effort is part of the Department’s broader strategy to disrupt commercial sexual exploitation and reduce the demand that fuels human trafficking and sex trafficking.
During the operation, Officers identified and contacted eight adult male suspects who engaged in acts consistent with purchasing sex. Seven suspects were issued criminal citations for solicitation of prostitution and for the intent to purchase commercial sex. One suspect was arrested and booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for the same crimes, as well as for a violation of Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS).
This enforcement action was conducted as part of a larger, coordinated public safety initiative in preparation for Super Bowl 60, when large-scale events may increase the risk of trafficking activity. Demand-reduction operations are designed to deter buyers, support survivor identification, and hold offenders accountable.
The San José Police Department acknowledges the collaborative assistance of the SJPD Covert Response Unit and the Santa Clara County Human Trafficking Task Force in making this operation a success.
The San José Police Department remains committed to eradicating human trafficking in our community and encourages anyone with information about such activities to contact the Human Trafficking Task Force at (408) 537-1999 or email stopslavery@sanjoseca.gov.
