On October 6, 2019, at approximately 9:25 PM, Officers responded to a report of a fight involving multiple subjects in the 1500 block of Alum Rock Avenue in San José. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult male victim suffering from at least one stab wound. The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that during a brief altercation, one of the three suspects produced a knife and stabbed the victim at least once. The three suspects were last seen running westbound on Alum Rock Avenue over the Highway 101 overpass.

SJPD Homicide Unit Detectives responded to the scene and began a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Despite investigative efforts, the suspects were not identified nor apprehended at the time of the incident. The San José Police Department Homicide Unit recently reopened the case and sought the public's assistance identifying suspects.

During the course of the follow up investigation, Detectives identified a 22 year old male as the primary suspect in the case and learned that he was a juvenile at the time of the incident. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest and on March 4, 2026, with the assistance of the Covert Response Unit, Detectives took the suspect into custody in the city of San José. He was subsequently booked into Santa Clara County Juvenile Hall for murder.
