On March 19, 2026, at approximately 1:08 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the area of Remington Way and Allenwood Drive for a report of a solo electric bicycle traffic collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A Magnum Cosmo electric bicycle, operated by a juvenile male and ridden by a juvenile male passenger, was traveling northbound on Remington Way passing through the intersection with Allenwood Drive when it lost control and skidded to the ground.
The male juvenile operator suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The male juvenile passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated on scene.
This incident is the city's 7th fatal collision and 7th traffic death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
