On April 11, 2026, at approximately 7:05 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to the 50 Block of North 9th Street to investigate a solo vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2010 Toyota, occupied by an adult male driver and adult female passenger, was attempting to park when the driver accidently put the vehicle into reverse at a high rate of speed. The vehicle left the roadway and collided with a concrete wall. The elderly female passenger was transported to a local hospital where she was ultimately pronounced deceased.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident is the city’s 13th fatal collision and 13th traffic death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
