In an effort to address community concerns regarding illicit massage businesses in the city of San José, the San José Police Department Vice Unit, with the assistance of the City of San José Planning, Building and Code Enforcement Department, conducted an enforcement operation to investigate these reported illegal activities.
On May 7, 2026, SJPD Vice Unit Detectives inspected four businesses located in the 200 block of Sunol Street, the 2000 block of Lincoln Avenue, the 2100 block of Lincoln Avenue, and the 2300 block of Almaden Road. During the operation, Detectives contacted and provided resources to three survivors, and also made contact with other potential survivors of sex trafficking.
Code Enforcement inspectors will be conducting additional follow-up with property owners to ensure compliance with San Jose Municipal Codes and California law.
Shutting down illegal massage businesses to protect the community from exploitation is a priority for the San José Police Department. This operation was made possible with the assistance of the City of San Jose Planning, Building and Code Enforcement Department, the Human Trafficking Task Force (HTTF), SJPD Patrol Officers, and personnel from the SJPD Permits Unit.
