The San José Police Department Financial Crimes Unit conducted a comprehensive investigation into two grand theft incidents that occurred in March and May of 2026 at a business located in the 70 block of Great Oaks Boulevard. On March 30, 2026, at approximately 12:50 AM, an adult male suspect damaged and stole multiple electric vehicle charging equipment from the business parking lot. Subsequently on May 10, 2026, at approximately 12:31 PM, an adult male suspect damaged and stole additional electric vehicle charging equipment from the same business parking lot. In both incidents, the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. In total, the suspect stole approximately $50,000 worth of equipment.
Utilizing surveillance footage, including Automated License Plate Reader Cameras, Detectives were able to quickly identify the suspect vehicle and subsequently the suspect, 53-year-old Michael Haverman.
On May 21, 2026, SJPD Metro Unit Detectives located Suspect Haverman in the city of San José and booked him into Santa Clara County Main Jail for grand theft and felony vandalism.
