On June 14, 2026, at approximately 12:19 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a traffic collision involving two vehicles in the area of Naglee Avenue and Park Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

A 2002 tan Buick sedan, occupied by an adult male driver and an adult female passenger, was traveling southbound on Park Avenue. The vehicle was fleeing an enforcement stop from the Santa Clara Police Department (SCPD) when it ran a red light at Naglee Avenue and struck a 2016 gray Toyota sedan traveling westbound on Naglee Avenue through the intersection with Park Avenue.

The Toyota was occupied by an adult female driver and an adult female passenger. The impact caused the Buick to collide with a traffic pole on the southwest corner of the intersection.

The suspect driver of the Buick was taken into custody by SCPD. The suspect driver sustained major injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. His passenger suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both occupants of the Toyota were transported to local hospitals with injuries that were later determined to be non-life threatening.

This incident marks the city’s 21st fatal collision and 21st traffic-related death of 2026.

The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
