On June 15, 2026, at approximately 12:44 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a residence in the 5800 block of Snell Avenue to conduct a welfare check on a subject who was reported to have been assaulted. Upon arrival, Officers located an adult female victim suffering from at least one stab wound. Medical personnel were summoned and, despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The SJPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
An adult male suspect, who was known to the victim, was taken into custody at the scene. He will be identified at a later date.
The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are under investigation.
This incident is being investigated as the City's 12th homicide of 2026.
