On June 28, 2026, at approximately 9:12 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of North Market Street and West Santa Clara Street. Upon arrival, Officers located an unconscious adult male victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Officers immediately began life saving measures and summoned medical personnel to the scene where they ultimately pronounced the victim deceased.
Officers located a second adult male shooting victim several yards away and immediately began providing life saving aid. Responding medical personnel transported the victim to a local hospital with life threatening injuries where he has since been stabilized. He remains in critical condition but is expected to survive.
The SJPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident.
Although this event is believed to be an isolated incident, the motive and circumstances surrounding the event are still under investigation.
This incident is being investigated as the City's 13th homicide of 2026.
