On July 1, 2026, at approximately 7:38 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Monterey Road and Ford Road. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A green 2013 Kia SUV, occupied by an adult female driver, was traveling northbound on Monterey Road through its intersection with Ford Road when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was walking eastbound across Monterey Road.
The pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation. While on scene, the driver was later transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This incident marks the city’s 24th fatal collision and 24th traffic-related death of 2026. This is also the 10th pedestrian death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
