SJPD Investigates Homicide #16 of 2026

On July 26, 2026, at approximately 2:55 AM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of 7th Street and Leo Avenue. When Officers arrived, they located two adult males suffering from at least one gunshot wound each. Despite life saving measures, one victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The second adult male was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and was later stabilized.

Simultaneously, Officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed in the area of 11th Street and Humboldt Street. Officers conducted a vehicle enforcement stop and discovered a third adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and his injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.

The SJPD Homicide Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the incident. 

The motive and circumstances surrounding the event are still under investigation.

This incident is being investigated as the City's 16th homicide of 2026.
