On August 4, 2026, at approximately 12:05 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Tully Road and Lucretia Avenue. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2019 gray Nissan Sentra sedan, occupied by an adult female driver, was traveling westbound on Tully Road making a right turn onto Lucretia Avenue when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Lucretia Avenue in a marked crosswalk.
The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized.
On August 10, 2026, SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives were notified that the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on August 9, 2026.
This incident marks the city’s 28th fatal collision and 28th traffic-related death of 2026. This is also the 14th pedestrian death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
