On August 13, 2026, at approximately 10:12 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Blossom Hill Road and Thornwood Drive. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A 2005 blue Acura SUV, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling eastbound on Blossom Hill Road approaching the Thornwood Drive intersection when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing southbound Blossom Hill Road just west of the intersection.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later stabilized. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with the investigation.
On August 19, 2026, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. SJPD Traffic Investigations Unit Detectives were later notified.
This incident marks the city’s 29th fatal collision and 29th traffic-related death of 2026. This is also the 15th pedestrian death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
