On August 31, 2026, at approximately 8:08 PM, San José Police Department Patrol Officers responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Vistapark Drive and Royale Park Drive. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:
A tan 2000 Mercedes sedan, occupied by an adult female driver, was traveling southbound on Vistapark Drive passing Royale Park Drive when it struck an adult male pedestrian who was crossing Vistapark Drive eastbound outside any marked crosswalk.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
This incident marks the city’s 31st fatal collision and 31st traffic-related death of 2026. This is also the 16th pedestrian death of 2026.
The identity of the decedent will be released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
