The San José Police Department, in coordination with multiple Bay Area law enforcement agencies, have been working together for months to identify and apprehend a suspect responsible for six armed robberies of Subway stores in San José and seven additional armed robberies throughout the Bay Area. This investigation is yet another excellent example of how collaboration can lead to important arrests.
SJPD's Robbery Unit, in collaboration with the Campbell Police Department, were able to identify the suspect. Detectives assigned to the case conducted extensive follow-up and were able to link the suspect to additional robberies in collaboration with the following police departments:
Milpitas
Fremont
Union City
Redwood City
Palo Alto
On Wednesday, March 24th, the U.S. Marshal Service-Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Taskforce and the SJPD Robbery Unit arrested suspect Justin Tucker in the City of San José, and he was booked at Santa Clara County main jail.
"I'm extremely thankful for the collaboration between our law enforcement partners to bring an end to this crime spree that preyed upon small local businesses, many of which were already struggling during the pandemic. Our investigations, close partnership with our neighboring agencies, and dedicated work by assigned Officers was tenacious and ultimately led to this suspect's arrest."
