On January 7, 2022, at approximately 8:30 PM, Officers responded to a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Senter Road and Capitol Expressway. The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

An unknown year and make, possibly blue or green, extended cab truck was traveling northbound on Senter Road in the number one lane just north of the intersection with Capitol Expressway. The truck struck an adult male pedestrian that was crossing Senter Road from west to east across lanes of traffic. The pedestrian was outside of any marked crosswalk.

The unknown vehicle and driver fled the scene after the collision and have not been located or identified.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. On January 14, 2022, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

This is the 5th fatal collision and the 5th victim of 2022. This is also the 3rd pedestrian fatality of 2022.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they confirm the victim’s identity and notify next of kin.
