***UPDATE*** SJPD Arrests Two Suspects for Homicide #14

On June 5, 2022, at approximately 3:35 AM, Officers responded to the 1500 block of Hamilton Avenue on a call of a person shot. When Officers arrived, they located an adult male victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Homicide Detectives began a comprehensive and thorough investigation into this incident; during the scope of the investigation two suspects were identified. The first suspect was identified as Tevita Tuakalau, a resident of Utah. The second suspect was identified as Jacob Parrilla, of San José. Arrest warrants for homicide and conspiracy were obtained and issued for both suspects.

With the assistance of the Salt Lake City Homicide and Apprehension Unit and the U.S. Marshal Service, suspect Tuakalau was located and arrested in Salt Lake County, Utah on August 11, 2022. He is currently in custody in the Salt Lake County Main Jail and is awaiting extradition to Santa Clara County to face homicide charges.

Suspect Parrilla was located and arrested in San José by the SJPD's Covert Response Unit (CRU) on August 17, 2022. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for conspiracy.

We would like to thank the law enforcement agencies in the State of Utah for their assistance with this investigation and apprehension.

This was the City's 14th homicide of 2022.
