Deputy Chief Gina Tibaldi

Deputy Chief Gina Tibaldi was born and raised in the City of San Jose. She attended the University of Southern California, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical/Chemical Engineering. She then received a Master of Criminal Justice from the University of Colorado Denver. She has worked for the San Jose Police Department for over 24 years.

Her experience as an officer and sergeant includes Patrol, Violent Crimes Enforcement Team (VCET), Chief’s Adjutant, and Internal Affairs. As a lieutenant, she worked Patrol, Family Violence Unit, and Research & Development. As a Captain, she was assigned to the Bureau of Field Operations (Southern & Central Divisions), the Bureau of Administration, and the Bureau of Investigations II. Deputy Chief Tibaldi commanded the Office of the Executive Officer prior to her current assignment as Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Investigations.

DC Tibaldi completed the LAPD Leadership Program, is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s Senior Management Institute for Policing (SMIP), and is currently enrolled in the Major Cities Chiefs Association’s Police Executive Leadership Institute (PELI) Cohort XII. 

The Bureau of Investigations assists in maintaining police service to the community by providing a management system for assigning, coordinating, directing, monitoring, and solving criminal investigations. The Bureau ensures the proper deployment of resources, determines economical and effective case management, and maintains current personnel policies. The Real Time Intelligence Center is also housed within BOI.

The BOI investigative units are divided into two divisions:
