SJPD arrest suspect involved in fatal collision on Camden Avenue

San Jose, Ca. — On Friday, March 4, 2016 at approximately 2:47 A.M., officers responded to the area of Camden Avenue and Leigh Avenue on a report of two vehicles (Dodge SUV and Nissan Truck) involved in a collision.  Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles in the roadway with major damage. The driver of the SUV was not immediately identified.  An adult male (driver of truck) was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The San Jose Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit arrived on scene and took over the investigation.  The identity of the decedent is not being released until the Coroner’s Office has confirmed his identity and next of kin has been notified.

Investigators conducted follow up investigation and identified Xavier Villarruel as the driver of the SUV.  On Friday, March 4, 2016 a warrant was obtained and the suspect, Xavier Villarruel, was arrested at his residence without incident. The suspect Villarruel was booked into the County Jail for CVC 23153 Felony DUI.

This is the City’s 11th traffic fatality (12th victim) of 2016.
