SJPD is investigating an Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on 3-7-16

San Jose, Calif. - On Monday, March 7, 2016, at 6:15 p.m., San Jose Police officers responded to the area of S. 3rd St. and Martha St. on a report of a person stabbed. An officer in the area arrived shortly after being dispatched. The officer encountered several witnesses, the suspect, and two stabbing victims in front of a residence. The suspect was armed with a knife and the officer fired his duty weapon at the suspect. The suspect was shot and pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect's name is withheld until next of kin is notified.

Both victims were transported to a local hospital. The female victim is in stable condition and the male victim is in critical condition, but expected to survive.

The officer will be placed on routine paid administrative leave. The San Jose Police Department's Homicide Unit is conducting the criminal investigation. The case is being monitored by the San Jose Police Department's Internal Affairs Unit, the Office of the Independent Police Auditor for the City of San Jose, and the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
