UPDATE: SJPD Looking for More Potential Victims of Sex Assault by Same Suspect

On July 19, 2016, a sexual assault occurred in San Jose. Damou Evans, a Morgan Hill resident, was identified as the suspect and a known Sex Offender. The San Jose Police Department's (SJPD) Megan’s Law/290 Team conducted follow-up investigation and subsequently obtained an arrest and search warrant for Evans.

On August 25, 2016, Evans was arrested by SJPD's Covert Response Unit, and the Megan’s Law/290 Team served a search warrant at his residence.

Between August 25, 2016 and October 31, 2016, an additional six victims contacted investigators and disclosed similar sexual assaults by Evans.

On November 9, 2016, SJPD investigators, working with the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, filed an amended complaint alleging the new offenses on behalf of the additional victims. Evans is currently in custody and is facing 19 felony counts of Sexual Assault.

Evans has worked as a promoter and for nightclubs in the South Bay. Investigators believe there are additional victims who have not come forward.

San Jose, Calif. - The San Jose Police Department’s Megan’s Law Unit has arrested a suspect for sexual assault.   On July 26, 2016 investigators were contacted by a 33 year old victim who reported a sexual assault.  The suspect Evans is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim several times in July 2016.

Detectives assigned to the case conducted extensive follow-up, leading to the identification and arrest of suspect Evans. Suspect Evans was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on a warrant for multiple counts of Sexual Assault.
 
Investigators are seeking persons with information regarding encounters with the suspect Evans to contact Detective Sergeant Marfia, Detectives Buhay or Pham of the San Jose Police Department's 290/Megan's Law Unit at (408) 277-4102.
