Homicide Investigation: January 22, 2016, 2000 block Camden Avenue

San Jose:   On Friday, January 22, 2016, at approximately 6:20 P.M., officers responded to the 2000 block of Camden Avenue on report of a welfare check.  Upon arrival, officers were told an adult male was missing for a few hours under suspicious circumstances. 

Officers conducting follow up investigations discovered evidence consistent with a crime scene.  San Jose Police Homicide Unit were notified and responded to the scene to take over the investigation. Officers canvassed the surrounding neighborhood and conducted interviews. 

After a lengthy preliminary investigation, the Homicide Unit determined this incident was a homicide and identified a person of interest.  On Saturday, January 23, 2016, San Jose Police arrested 39 year old Steve Hlebo in Los Altos.  Suspect Hlebo was booked into the County Jail for murder.

Suspect Hlebo owns a white 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 truck which may have been associated with the murder.  The truck has been recovered and is in police custody.  However, homicide detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in determining the whereabouts of this vehicle between the hours of 5:00 P.M. (Friday, January 22) to 2:00 A.M. (Saturday, January 23).

The victim, 28 year old Kyle Myrick, has not been located.  San Jose Police are continuing to conduct extensive follow up investigation in hopes of locating the victim.
