Homicide Investigation: April 7, 2016, 400 block East Williams Street

San Jose:

On Thursday, April 7, 2016, at 11:04 P.M., officers responded to the 400 block of E. Williams St. on a report of a person shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The victim, later identified as Luis Ortega, was transported to a local area hospital and treated for serious life threatening injuries.

The motive and/or circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation. The unidentified suspect was not located and remains at large.

On Saturday, April 9, 2016 at approximately 9:33 P.M., the victim was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital as a result of the injuries sustained from the shooting incident.

This is the City's 11th homicide of 2016.
