Operation Cruz Control

San Jose, CA - The San Jose Police Department Financial Crimes Unit has been conducting a year long investigation into an East Palo Alto criminal street gang committing burglaries in the City of San Jose.  More than 13 gang members were identified as being part of this burglary crew. 

Since 2015, this crew has been responsible for over two hundred residential burglaries in San Jose and other neighboring jurisdictions.  High end vehicles (ie: Porsche, BMW, Mercedes, etc) were commonly used during the commission of those burglaries.  Items stolen have included: firearms, cash, jewelry, electronics, etc. 

On 08/31/16, with the assistance from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office. Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, Daly City Police Department, East Palo Alto Police Department, Newark Police Department, Union City Police Department, Milpitas Police Department, Redwood City Police Department, North County Regional SWAT team and U.S. Postal Inspector a total of 8 search and arrest warrants were served in the City of East Palo Alto and Newark.  Over 150 officers from various outside agencies participated in the operation in addition to San Jose Police personnel.   Seized items included stolen property, large amounts of cash, a firearm, burglary tools, and ski masks.  Seven suspects were taken into custody and booked on multiple burglary counts and a gang enhancement.

3.      Daniel Flores-Castaneda, Age 24, EPA resident (In-Custody in Santa Clara County Jail at time of arrest)

4.      Jaime Magana, Age 25, EPA resident (In-Custody at San Mateo County Jail at time of arrest)

5.      Francisco (Frankie) Ledesma Aquilar, Age 25, EPA resident

6.      Gilberto Cruz, Age 19, EPA resident

7.      Raul Cruz Jr, Age 20, EPA resident


Suspects At-Large:

1.      Miguel Chipres-Magallon, Age 22, EPA resident

2.      Gustavo Ayala Garcia Jr, Age 23, Newark resident
