**UPDATE #2**

(September 7, 2016)

Suspect:  Michael  James Lee Lewis

On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at about 5:15 PM, the suspect (Michael Lewis) wanted in connection with shooting at occupied vehicles along the Blossom Hill Road corridor was arrested in San Jose by officers of the San Jose PD Covert Response Unit.

On August 14, 2016, suspect Lewis was arrested for unrelated charges by San Jose Police Officer Mel Dunn #4309 while he was following-up on leads for this case. San Jose PD Assaults Unit detectives conducted follow-up investigation on Lewis and obtained a search warrant at his residence in the City of San Jose. A handgun was located during the search. The handgun, along with shell casings from some of the shootings, was submitted to the Santa Clara County Crime Lab for analysis. The Crime Lab determined the bullets recovered from four incidents were fired from the same handgun.

Lewis will be booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on 4 counts of Attempted Murder and an outstanding felony warrant for Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Chief Eddie Garcia said, “The work that the men and women of this department have done in the last three weeks is nothing short of amazing! In light of everything this department is going through, our officers' dedication to the residents of this city is beyond reproach.”

"I commend the San Jose Police Department for their exceptional work to arrest an extremely dangerous suspect without any loss of  life - our officers continue to exceed expectations at a time when they remain historically shorthanded," said Mayor Sam Liccardo.

(August 9, 2016)
