San Jose, Calif. — The San Jose Police Department's Robbery Unit has been investigating a series of at least four (4) robberies which occurred between August 2017 and September 2017. The robberies targeted Asian women walking through parking lots in San Jose. The suspects forcibly removed jewelry from the victims and fled the scene on foot.

The investigation revealed suspects Shamo and Arzate directed a mentally disabled juvenile male to grab the jewelry from the victims.

On Monday, September 4, 2017, SJPD patrol officers responded to a call for service when a concerned citizen witnessed the suspects following a victim. Responding officers located the suspects in the area of McKee Rd. and N. Jackson Av. Patrol officers and detectives were able to link the suspects to three additional robberies in the area.

Suspects Shamo and Arzate were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for robbery and attempted robbery. The juvenile suspect was booked into Juvenile Hall on the same charges.

We are asking for the public's assistance in identifying additional victims who may have not reported their robbery to the police.

Anyone with information regarding these incidents or any other similar incidents are urged to contact Detective Michael White of the San Jose Police Department's Robbery Unit at 408-277-4166.
